Gem Theatre

For shelter is gone when the night is o’er, and bread lasts only a day. But the touch of the hand and the sound of the voice sing on in the soul always. – Dr. Spencer Michael Free

At 102 years of age, Armstrong County Museum’s Gem Theatre remains young-at-heart, hosting four performances each year and serving as a venue for unique productions, including a Summer Academy for area youth.

Built in 1915 and purchased by Armstrong County Museum, Inc. in 1993, the Gem Theatre was remodeled and refurbished to “preserve the sights and sounds of yesteryears and today, and to delight and challenge our audiences and volunteers through theatre and performing arts.” To that end, quarterly performances of classic works rely on the skills and talents of area performers and craftsmen of all ages.
